Unfair Labor Practices: Violating Employee Rights

Do you know what an unfair labor practice looks like? Imagine that you’ve worked for the same company for 36 years. In those years you’ve never had a write-up or disciplinary action. You’ve worked your way up into the position you hold today, you have aspirations to climb one more rung up the ladder, and then, retirement in the next 8 years. You and your Director haven’t agreed on the best way to make two of your least productive teams more efficient. You arrive at work to discover you’ve received not one, but two write-ups by your Director, stating you’ve been non-compliant to the ideas set before you to increase efficiency, have continuously turned in projects late and violated policy by assisting your teams by helping get authorizations. Your Director asks that you sign the documents–you refuse saying, that you feel these claims are inaccurate, and you’ll be speaking with HR. As you turn to leave she threatens you’ll never receive another promotion if you file a grievance. Above is an example of unfair labor practices by management: threatening an employee that her desire to move up in the company will be squashed if she even considers filing a grievance.
